Embracing Organic Farming: A Call to Action from Padma Shri Phoolbasan Bai Yadav

Raipur, May 11: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal, Padma Shri Phoolbasan Bai Yadav emphasized the urgent need to promote organic farming. She stated that the initiative has already begun with 500 farmers utilizing cow dung and other natural resources for cultivation.

Yadav highlighted a concerning trend: children are increasingly suffering from diseases like cancer. “Until we adopt organic farming, the prevalence of illness will continue to rise. Chemicals have contaminated our water supply,” she warned.

She noted that nearly every household has at least two sick individuals. “In the past, people were less educated, but now we are aware and still mistreat our bodies. I appreciate PM Modi’s vision and extend my gratitude to him,” she said.

Yadav also pointed out the health risks associated with consuming oil-based foods. “I avoid oil entirely and prefer boiled vegetables. Our diet has shifted towards unhealthy options like instant noodles and pasta, which harm our health. We must choose better food for ourselves,” she urged.

To improve conditions in both urban and rural areas, she called for collective action. “I thank Modi Ji; this is significant for us. Previously, we traveled by bus, which reduced pollution. Today, the air is so polluted that breathing has become difficult due to the surge in vehicles,” she lamented.

She stressed that self-reliant India can only be achieved by embracing indigenous products. “In the past, we grew rice, lentils, turmeric, and coriander in Chhattisgarh, which kept us healthy. Now, excessive chemicals are used in rice and vegetables. Even a small gourd is artificially enlarged with injections. People are consuming various chemicals and battling illnesses. Adopting indigenous practices will also save money,” she concluded.

Padma Shri Usha Barle also echoed PM Modi’s message, stating that using less oil in vegetables is beneficial for health. She urged everyone to consume locally grown produce and to prioritize homemade foods. “We all need to use indigenous products and conserve fuel,” she added.
