
Jammu, May 27: The Islamic festival of Eid-ul-Azha, also known as Bakrid, is being celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir today. Members of the Muslim community gathered in mosques early in the morning to offer prayers. In the Bhathindi mosque, the Shia community came together for the prayers, while the Eidgah on Residency Road also hosted worshippers.
Sunni Islamic scholar and the royal imam of Jamia Masjid Khadi Talab, Mufti Inayatullah Qasmi, extended his Eid greetings, stating, “We wish everyone a blessed Eid. The celebration is taking place across Jammu and Kashmir, with prayers being offered everywhere. We pray that Allah grants us happiness, relief, peace, good health, and prosperity.”
Aga Syed Hassan Al-Mosavi, president of Anjuman Shari Shian, noted that a large number of people prayed at the Markazi Imambargah in Budgam, seeking peace and prosperity for the region. He expressed, “On this auspicious day, I extend heartfelt congratulations to the Islamic world, as this day teaches us compassion.”
In Banihal, MLA Sajjad Shaheen reported that thousands attended the Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Banihal Eidgah, where religious leaders called for peace, unity, brotherhood, and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mohammad Asgar Magray, a member of the Awqaf in Gundoh, remarked that Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated with enthusiasm and unity. Security measures were stringent, and prayers were offered for peace, harmony, and economic development.
A local resident shared, “Eid is a festival of joy. My message this Eid is for everyone in India to live together in brotherhood.” Another young man added, “On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, I extend heartfelt greetings to all Muslims. I pray to Allah that Eid brings joy every year and that we all live together with love and affection.”
