New Delhi, June 4: With less than a month to go until International Yoga Day, the Indian government’s AYUSH Ministry is encouraging people to integrate yoga into their daily routines. The ministry emphasizes that regular yoga practice can help alleviate common issues, such as lower back pain.
In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, many individuals suffer from back and lower back pain due to prolonged sitting and a lack of physical activity. The AYUSH Ministry has identified yoga as a natural and effective remedy for these problems. According to the ministry, adopting the mantra “Stay Yogi, Stay Disease-Free” can enhance health and prevent various ailments.
Yoga experts believe that consistent practice strengthens core and back muscles, providing better support for the spine and potentially reducing pain. Additionally, yoga increases flexibility, alleviates muscle stiffness, and reduces stress. It also improves posture, making daily activities easier.
The AYUSH Ministry has recommended specific yoga asanas and pranayama for relief from back and lower back pain. These include Ardha Chakrasana, Setu Bandhasana, Kati Chakrasana, Vakrasana, Bhujangasana, and Surya Bhedana Pranayama. Regular practice of these exercises can strengthen back muscles and enhance spinal flexibility.
Experts point out that yoga extends beyond pain relief. Properly performed yoga poses can also alleviate digestive issues, improve body balance, and enhance mental focus. This is why yoga is regarded as an effective lifestyle choice for overall health.
It is advisable to practice yoga under the guidance of a trained instructor to ensure correct techniques. Individuals with severe back pain or other health concerns should consult a doctor before starting yoga.
