Chennai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : East Zone has claimed the Duleep Trophy title, showcasing an impressive performance at the MA Chidambaram Cricket Stadium in Chennai. Under the leadership of Ishan Kishan, the team triumphed over South Zone in the final match, marking a significant victory after a 13-year wait.
Following the win, Kishan credited the entire team for their success. He stated, “As a group, we have won this title. I believe everyone was looking out for one another, which was the most important thing for me. I think I have been a good captain (with a smile), but the journey doesn’t end here. We need to keep improving in every department. There are always mistakes, and we need to correct them and get better every day.”
Kishan further elaborated on his growth during a break from the Indian team. He emphasized the importance of staying calm, being involved in the game, and understanding the situation better. “You have to look out for each other, trying to help with every ball so that they don’t fall into the zone I was in. That’s why I was trying to help everyone, and it has been a good change for me. I have been calmer, more aware of situations, and hungrier. You want to perform well for your team and win, and that’s what has changed in me.”
East Zone was declared the winner based on a massive first-innings lead of 372 runs. The team scored an impressive 708 runs in their first innings, with Kishan shining as he scored a remarkable 270 runs. In the second innings, he added another 80 runs to his tally.
