New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : South Africa triumphed over Namibia by 157 runs in the second One Day International, held on September 11, 2026. Chasing a hefty target of 336 runs, Namibia was bowled out for just 178 runs.
Namibia’s innings got off to a disastrous start. Opening batsmen Michael van Lingen and Malan Kruger both fell without scoring. Jan Freilink also went out for a duck, while Lauren Steenkamp managed only 12 runs before returning to the pavilion. Jan Nicol Lofty-Eaton added just 6 runs, leaving Namibia in deep trouble at 32 for 5.
Despite the early setbacks, Jan Green tried to stabilize the innings alongside captain Gerhard Erasmus, adding 27 runs for the sixth wicket. Green was dismissed for 11 runs. Jan Balt then formed a crucial partnership with Erasmus, contributing 71 runs for the seventh wicket before he was out for 26.
Erasmus played a commendable knock, scoring 68 runs off 84 balls, including six fours and a six. Ruben Trumpelmann chipped in with a quick 30 runs from 27 balls, while Waldo Smith added 10. On the bowling front, South Africa’s Duan Janse van Rensburg shone with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 31 runs, while Ethan Bosch claimed 3 wickets.
Earlier in the match, South Africa also struggled initially, losing Jordan Hermann for 20 runs off 24 balls. However, Connor Esterhuizen and Tony de Zorzi stabilized the innings, putting together a formidable partnership of 183 runs for the second wicket off 168 balls. Esterhuizen, however, stole the spotlight with a brilliant century, scoring 119 runs off 110 balls, which included eight fours and six sixes.
