DPL 2026: Nitish and Ayush Shine as Lions Defeat Tigers by 6 Wickets

New Delhi, August 20: The West Delhi Lions triumphed over the New Delhi Tigers by 6 wickets in the 35th match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026. Nitish Rana and captain Ayush Doseja both delivered impressive half-centuries for the Lions.

Winning the toss at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday, the New Delhi Tigers opted to bat first. They managed to score 195 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Atulya Pandey partnered with Dev Chaudhary for a 20-run opening stand, contributing 7 runs, while Dev added 16 runs to the total.

The Tigers faced early setbacks, losing two wickets for just 28 runs. However, Parikshit Singh Bhati and Vaibhav Rawal steadied the innings, adding 24 runs for the third wicket in just 18 balls, pushing the score past fifty. Parikshit scored 10 runs before returning to the pavilion.

Captain Himmat Singh formed a crucial partnership with Keshav Dalal (36), adding 48 runs for the fifth wicket in 25 balls. Keshav also collaborated with Perth Bali to add 27 runs. Perth then partnered with Manish Seharawat, scoring 57 runs in just 15 balls to elevate the team’s score. Perth remained unbeaten at 35 runs off 13 balls, hitting 3 sixes and as many fours, while Manish contributed a quick 30 runs off 8 balls. For the Lions, Mayank Gusain and Tishant Dabla each took 2 wickets, while Kulwant Khejarolia and Manan Bhardwaj claimed 1 wicket each.

In response, the Lions chased down the target in 19.2 overs. Krish Yadav and Aryaveer Sehwag opened with a solid 41-run partnership. Aryaveer scored 22 runs off 14 balls before departing, but Krish and Nitish Rana then added 74 runs for the second wicket in 39 balls, taking the team past the century mark.

Nitish Rana played a stellar innings, scoring 50 runs off just 23 balls, featuring 4 sixes and 3 fours. The Lions lost their fourth wicket at a score of 136, but Jitesh Singh partnered with captain Ayush to secure victory with a 65-run partnership in 32 balls.

Ayush remained unbeaten at 64 runs off 33 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 7 fours, while Jitesh contributed 11 runs. On the opposing side, Manish Seharawat was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets, while Himmat Singh claimed 1 wicket.
