New Delhi, August 20: In a move that dispels doubts about his future in Formula 1, four-time world champion Max Verstappen has signed an extension with his Red Bull team. He will race for the RB22 until the end of 2030. There had been speculation about the Dutchman’s potential switch to McLaren.
Red Bull confirmed the contract extension with Verstappen, emphasizing that their partnership is one of the most successful and significant in F1 history. This renewal reflects mutual trust and ambition, marking a shared decision to shape the future together.
Verstappen expressed his happiness about the contract extension, having been with Red Bull since 2016. He stated, “I am truly happy about the contract extension. We have the best people. I am excited to continue working with everyone to get back to the top. This is the ultimate goal we are all working towards and will continue to do so. I want to thank Red Bull, Laurent, and everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing for their trust in me.”
All of Verstappen’s success has come with the Red Bull team, where he has won four world titles since 2021. He secured four consecutive championships until Lando Norris took the world title from him in 2025.
The Dutch driver remarked, “I have always said that the team feels like a second family to me. I feel at home here. I came to the team with hopes of winning races. What we have achieved together is very special. We have shared many great moments and won four world championships.”
He added, “Continuing this journey with the team I have been with throughout my career is truly special. It has also been great working with Laurent Mekies, who was promoted to team principal in July 2025. I have seen a clear vision from him for the team over the past year. Everyone in Milton Keynes believes in what we are building, and I look forward to the next chapter. We will continue to shape the future of this team.”
Verstappen’s extension is considered one of the biggest achievements during Mekies’ tenure. He stated, “Having Max remain with us and keeping the best driver on the grid is fantastic news for Red Bull, Oracle Red Bull Racing, and the entire F1 and motorsport community.”
