DMK Extends Deadline for Election Review Report Submission to June 10

Chennai, May 30: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has extended the deadline for its committee reviewing the recent electoral defeat. The party has granted an additional five days for the committee to assess its disappointing performance in the recent assembly elections.

In a statement released from the DMK headquarters, the party indicated that the review committee requested more time to gather feedback from party workers, candidates, and officials across the state before finalizing its report. Accepting this request, the party leadership has pushed the submission deadline from June 5 to June 10.

The DMK faced an unexpected defeat in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, prompting party president M.K. Stalin to form this review committee. Comprising 38 members, the committee is tasked with conducting an in-depth investigation into the reasons behind the party’s loss.

Additionally, the committee is responsible for recommending measures to strengthen the organization for future political battles. According to party sources, the committee is touring Tamil Nadu, engaging with district leaders, constituency officials, grassroots workers, and candidates to gather insights.

The aim is to obtain firsthand information about local issues, shortcomings in election campaigning, organizational weaknesses, and voter sentiments. As part of its outreach efforts, the DMK has also launched a special online portal where party workers and the general public can share their suggestions and thoughts regarding the reasons for the electoral defeat.

This portal has received an overwhelming response, indicating significant interest in this introspective process within the party. According to party officials, nearly five hundred thousand responses have been collected so far. These responses include suggestions related to campaign strategies, candidate selection, constituency-level issues, alliance management, and organizational practices.

It is anticipated that this report will provide a ‘roadmap’ for organizational reforms and political strategy, as the DMK prepares for upcoming elections and aims to strengthen its political foothold in the state. The committee is expected to submit its report to the party leadership by June 10.
