Mumbai, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The vote counting for the re-elections of the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) concluded on Saturday in Mumbai, with Upasana Singh and Sahila Chadda emerging as the frontrunners. Singh received 360 votes, while Chadda closely followed with 357 votes.
Vikas Verma garnered 349 votes, and Deepak Parashar received 348 votes. Other notable candidates included Kunika Sadanand with 312 votes, Varsha Usgaonkar Sharma with 306 votes, and Nagma Morarji with 290 votes. The final tallies for other candidates were as follows: Nimai Bali (266), Arjun (Firoz Khan) (250), Asmani Tahi (237), Shehzad Khan (234), Manish Kumar Chaturvedi (219), Sapan Kumar Bhattacharya (197), Ranjit Kumar Singh (184), and Ramakant Borude (176).
Expressing his surprise, Deepak Parashar stated, “I did not expect this. I am amazed to have won by such a good margin. Now, I want to work solely for my CINTAA members and hope they return to collaborate with me. Thank you very much.”
Kunika Sadanand also expressed gratitude, saying, “I am very thankful to everyone who voted for me and helped our team win. Our real work starts now. We must demonstrate that we are capable and worthy of the trust placed in us.”
She thanked the 571 members who supported her, emphasizing their courage in keeping CINTAA alive.
This re-election was prompted by a court’s refusal to halt new elections ordered by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees. The election followed the resignation of 11 members from the 21-member executive committee, who alleged a dictatorial approach within the association.
Additionally, actresses and CINTAA officials Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure raised concerns about alleged privacy violations and questioned Upasana Singh regarding access to the association’s data.
