Kanpur, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The District Election Officer in Kanpur has dismissed claims circulating on social media that 5,000 electronic voting machines (EVMs) and 12 engineers have arrived in the city ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. This clarification was shared via the official X account of the District Election Officer on September 20, 2026.
According to the official statement, the first-level checking (FLC) of EVMs began on September 17, 2026, in the presence of representatives from recognized political parties. The process is ongoing as per the scheduled program.
The administration emphasized that no new EVMs have been brought to Kanpur from any other location for the first-level checking. The claims regarding the arrival of 5,000 EVMs and the engineers are entirely false and misleading.
The District Election Officer also noted that the complete schedule for the first-level checking and related information had been widely publicized earlier. Citizens have been urged not to believe unverified and misleading information circulating on social media and to rely solely on official communications.
