Victoria, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Colonel Michael Holanda, Chief of Staff of the Seychelles Defense Forces, will participate in a two-week international strategic engagement program in New Delhi. Accompanying him will be Angela Payet, Deputy Cabinet Secretary.
The Indian High Commission announced on social media platform X, emphasizing the aim to strengthen defense and strategic ties between India and Seychelles. The program will focus on security and strategy, and the High Commission extended its best wishes to the attendees.
Last month, India provided Seychelles with specially calibrated equipment and repaired electronic units, enhancing defense and maritime cooperation. The High Commission noted that Captain Shravan Sarin, a defense advisor, delivered three repaired Dornier Main Electronic Units (MEUs), 18 sets of calibrated special aircraft equipment, 50 security helmets, and sailor ropes to Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Defense Forces of Seychelles.
According to the Indian mission, the Indian Navy facilities carried out the free repair and calibration of these items. This support will enable in-house testing and rapid repairs for the Dornier fleet used by the Seychelles Air Force for Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) monitoring, casualty evacuation, and search and rescue operations.
The High Commission stated that security and sailor equipment will enhance the safety and operational readiness of Seychelles Coast Guard personnel.
Previously, in August, Rohit Rathi, India’s High Commissioner to Seychelles, presented five laser radial boats to the Chief of Defense Forces, fulfilling a commitment made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his state visit to the island nation in June.
Rathi highlighted on X that the delivery of the boats, aimed at strengthening maritime partnership, reflects India’s firm commitment to enhancing the capabilities and efficiencies of the Seychelles Defense Forces, deepening the enduring defense and maritime partnership between the two nations.
