Bhadradri Kothagudem, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : A heartbreaking incident occurred on Sunday in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, where a four-year-old girl lost her life after being accidentally locked inside a parked car.
Authorities reported that the tragedy unfolded in the village of Vinoba Nagar, located in the Julurupadu mandal. The girl, identified as Tanvishree, is the daughter of the village sarpanch, Gangawat Naveen.
While playing near her home, Tanvishree opened the door of a stationary vehicle. Unknown to anyone, the door subsequently locked with her inside. After she failed to return home for an extended period, her family began searching the neighborhood.
Two hours into the search, someone peered into the car and discovered the girl wedged between the front seats. They broke a window to rescue her and rushed her to the government hospital in Kothagudem. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Police suspect that the girl suffocated due to a lack of air inside the locked vehicle. The incident has left the local community in shock. Investigators have registered a case and are conducting further inquiries.
Law enforcement officials have advised parents to be vigilant and ensure that children do not have access to parked vehicles. They also urged the public to thoroughly check cars before locking them, especially when children are nearby.
This tragic event echoes a similar incident in April 2026, when a five-year-old girl died after being locked inside a vehicle in Nalgonda district. Last year, two children in Ranga Reddy district also perished under similar circumstances when they became trapped in a car while playing.
