New Delhi, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the Haritalika Teej Festival 2026 at Indira Gandhi Stadium on Sunday, alongside yoga guru Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.
During the event, Gupta emphasized that Haritalika Teej is not merely a fast but a celebration of women’s resolve and strength. She highlighted the festival’s connection to Goddess Parvati’s penance, symbolizing the faith, power, and dedication of mothers and sisters today.
The event, organized by the Hamro Swabhimaan Trust, also saw the presence of Delhi Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra and key figures from the Nepali and Gorkhali communities. Several prominent individuals who contributed significantly to society and the nation were honored during the celebration.
Gupta extended her best wishes to the community, noting that a culture that keeps its women’s festivals alive will never fade. She acknowledged Haritalika Teej as a celebration of the strength and self-respect of Nepali and Gorkhali women.
The Chief Minister remarked on the presence of many Nepali and Gorkhali people in Delhi and across the country, stating that their identity is defined not just by numbers but by their courage, discipline, integrity, and loyalty. She praised their vital contributions to national development in various fields, including national security, education, healthcare, literature, music, sports, and business.
Gupta also commended Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna for their contributions, noting that Ramdev has brought yoga to the masses while Balkrishna has strengthened the scientific aspects of yoga and Ayurveda. Together, they have instilled a sense of self-respect in the nation.
Ten individuals were honored during the ceremony. Gupta remarked that while celebrating festivals is important, recognizing and honoring soldiers, teachers, farmers, artists, and officials whose contributions often go unnoticed is even more significant. She expressed heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the honorees on behalf of the Delhi government and its citizens.
Minister Kapil Mishra praised the efforts of Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna in organizing the event. He also expressed gratitude for the sensitivity and support shown by Delhi residents during the recent natural disaster in Nepal.
