Discontent Grows Within TMC, Rebel MPs May Strengthen NDA: Sanjay Nirupam

Mumbai, June 14: Sanjay Nirupam, spokesperson for the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), has commented on the internal politics of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the opposition INDIA alliance. He claims that serious discontent and rebellion have emerged within the TMC, suggesting that rebel members may soon join the NDA.

Nirupam has leveled serious accusations against TMC leadership, stating that the leadership style of party chief Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee has fueled dissatisfaction within the party. According to him, many TMC MPs and MLAs are unhappy with leadership decisions and have been consistently voicing their concerns about being ignored.

He asserted that the situation within the TMC has deteriorated to the extent that a significant group of MPs may adopt a different stance. Initially, it was believed that the number of TMC MPs would not exceed 18 or 19, but recent political developments suggest a change in this outlook. He also mentioned that several senior leaders are dissatisfied and moving towards forming a separate faction.

Nirupam claimed that a group of approximately 22 TMC MPs is expressing discontent against the leadership. He noted that meetings are ongoing in Delhi regarding this issue, and in the coming days, these MPs are likely to join the BJP, thereby strengthening the party.

The Shiv Sena spokesperson further alleged that the situation within the TMC is not merely a sign of organizational discontent but indicates a deeper political rift. He emphasized that the lack of communication between leadership and workers has led to this predicament.

Additionally, he stated that democratic political parties must maintain continuous dialogue with their MPs and MLAs. He warned that if this communication breaks down, discontent and division within the party are inevitable. He urged other regional parties to learn from this situation.

Nirupam remarked that no matter how many meetings Uddhav Thackeray holds with his MPs, the reality is that discontent is also rising within his party. He alleged that the same kind of dissatisfaction and opposition seen in the TMC could emerge within Uddhav Thackeray’s faction.

He also commented on the INDIA alliance, noting that differences are increasingly apparent within the coalition. He claimed that political clashes are arising between the Congress party and left parties in several states, particularly in Kerala, where a long-standing political struggle persists.

Nirupam accused the opposition alliance of being based solely on political opportunism, lacking ideological unity. He stated that this is why component parties often appear to be at odds with each other on various issues.

He further claimed that the Congress party and its allies adopt opposing stances on several matters, raising questions about the unity of the alliance. He warned that this situation cannot last long and that the INDIA alliance may fragment further in the future.
