Lucknow, August 22: BJP MP Dinesh Sharma has countered remarks made by Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav regarding the BJP’s priorities. Sharma emphasized that the BJP and NDA government have a strong history of standing firm against Pakistan and always prioritize India’s security.
In an interview, Sharma stated that the essence of the BJP is “India first.” He referenced “Operation Sindoor,” highlighting India’s decisive response to Pakistan’s provocations. He asserted that this government has demonstrated its willingness to take action if Pakistan engages in hostile activities.
Sharma criticized opposition leaders, claiming that when it comes to national security, their statements often make headlines in Pakistan and are raised in international forums like the UN.
Addressing the rising sugar prices, Sharma acknowledged the government’s understanding of consumer needs and assured that necessary measures are being taken to prevent public inconvenience. He cited several potential reasons for the price hike, including reduced production, crop damage due to weather, increased demand during festivals, and rising international market prices. He also noted that war-like conditions in international markets have impacted sugar prices and that the government may need to implement further measures. He dismissed the notion that ethanol is responsible for the price increase.
Sharma defended the Yogi government regarding the security of public representatives, stating that the government’s clear policy is to ensure the safety of both the public and elected officials. He clarified that security assessments do not consider a person’s political affiliation or ideology but focus on potential threats. He claimed that security for various leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati, has been increased based on threat assessments.
He asserted that the Yogi government’s policy is not to protect criminals but to provide security to public representatives. Sharma accused previous administrations of bias in security matters, asserting that the BJP does not discriminate based on political party, caste, or religion.
He urged all political parties to refrain from personal attacks on one another, emphasizing that while political differences are natural, respect and decorum should be maintained in discourse.
Regarding comments on Chaudhary Charan Singh, Sharma noted his illustrious history and stated that he is particularly respected within the Jat community and their families.
