New Delhi, March 30: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited Nandigram in West Bengal on Sunday. He engaged with dedicated BJP workers in the constituency of senior party leader and opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari.
During his discussions, Pradhan emphasized that Nandigram represents not just a legislative assembly seat but also a powerful symbol of change within the state. He expressed confidence that the local populace has unwavering faith in the BJP and Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership.
The Union Minister praised the enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication of party workers. He noted that their energy clearly indicates that the lotus will bloom again in Nandigram in the upcoming elections.
In a post on the social media platform X, he wrote, “Today, I had the opportunity to interact with dedicated party workers in Nandigram, the constituency of senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Nandigram is not just a constituency; it symbolizes the spirit of change. The unwavering faith of the local people stands firmly with the BJP and Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership. The enthusiasm, discipline, and dedication of party workers are clear indicators. This time, the lotus is set to bloom in Nandigram.”
Nandigram gained prominence over a decade ago during protests against land acquisition and became a focal point in the 2021 assembly elections when Suvendu Adhikari, who left the Trinamool Congress for the BJP, narrowly defeated then-Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Since then, this constituency has remained a significant electoral battleground in West Bengal politics.
As the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections approach, political activities in the region have intensified, with both major parties focusing their strategies here.
Pradhan’s visit comes at a time when the BJP is striving to strengthen its organization across the state. The party has already announced candidates for several seats, including fielding Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram and challenging the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bhawanipur, Kolkata.
On the other hand, the TMC has nominated a former close associate of Adhikari against him in Nandigram, making the contest even more competitive.
The Union Minister conveyed a message of unity and determination to the workers. He urged them to maintain this momentum and tirelessly connect with the public. His visit is seen as a morale booster for BJP workers in East Medinipur district and a clear indication that the party is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen its foothold in West Bengal.
Local leaders and workers warmly welcomed Pradhan, assuring him of their full support for the party’s vision of development and change. This interaction is expected to energize the grassroots election campaign in one of the state’s most politically sensitive constituencies.
