New Delhi, August 7: During the ongoing Kanwar Yatra in Sawan, numerous service camps have been set up across Delhi for the pilgrims. The Youth Unity Kanwar Service Committee has been operating a camp near Welcome Metro Station for the past 29 years. Members of the committee reported that this year, they received full cooperation from the administration and improved security arrangements. Pilgrims staying at the camp also commended the facilities provided.
One pilgrim stated, “I really liked the arrangements here. We decided to stay at this camp. It is very clean, there is no inconvenience or crowd, and we have access to food, drinking water, and all essential amenities.”
Another pilgrim mentioned, “We faced no issues during our journey. The government has provided all necessary facilities.”
A Kanwariya heading to Rajasthan shared, “We collected the sacred water on August 4, and we hope to reach Rajasthan by August 10. The security arrangements throughout the journey were excellent, and we received great facilities at the camps along the way.”
Vijay Kumar Sharma, a member of the Youth Unity Kanwar Service Committee, noted, “We have been running this camp for 29 years, adhering to all government guidelines. CCTV cameras have been installed for security, coolers are provided for the pilgrims, and adequate facilities for food and other needs are available.”
Another committee member, Khemraj Chawla, added, “This camp has been operational for 29 years, and I am a member. The facilities provided by the government are very good. We have no complaints, and all essential services are available, with full cooperation from the Delhi Police.”
This year, the administration has implemented special security measures. The camp was inspected by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) to check for any suspicious items. Continuous monitoring is conducted through CCTV cameras, and police officers are patrolling regularly to ensure that the Kanwariyas face no difficulties.
