Varanasi, February 15: The sacred festival of Mahashivratri has filled temples across the country with chants of “Har Har Mahadev.” Devotees have lined up since early morning to glimpse their revered deities, showing unwavering enthusiasm despite the heavy crowds.

Long queues have formed outside temples in Varanasi and Deoghar since dawn. At Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the deity has been adorned with peacock feathers, and the entire complex resonates with the fervent chants of “Har Har Mahadev.”

On this auspicious occasion, SDM Shambhu Sharan remarked, “The people of Kashi are incredibly enthusiastic about this festival. Since morning, devotees have been praying in long lines at Baba Vishwanath’s courtyard. Over 40,000 devotees have already visited, and medical arrangements have been made to accommodate the increasing crowd.”

DCP Gaurav Bansal stated, “Millions of devotees have arrived, and arrangements have been made for their convenience. To ensure orderly darshan, queues have been established due to the heavy crowd. Barricades have been set up at the ghats, and monitoring is being conducted via boats.”

Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal added, “This is a sacred festival of Mahashivratri, and long queues of devotees have formed since last night. All police personnel are deployed here. Barricades have been installed around the temple complex, and strict monitoring is in place to ensure no devotee faces any inconvenience. Three hundred cameras have been set up for surveillance, and as the day progresses, the crowd continues to grow. Drone assistance has also been utilized to enhance security.”

A devotee who came to seek blessings shared, “We arrived here last night and queued up around midnight after taking a bath. We had darshan around 4:30 to 5:00 AM.” Another devotee expressed, “Today, Varanasi is filled with joy; although we had to wait in long lines for darshan, the arrangements are excellent. The darshan process is smooth, and devotees appear very happy to receive Baba Vishwanath’s blessings.”

Meanwhile, at the Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar, devotees have been waiting for four hours to have darshan. A visitor mentioned that the temple has been crowded since morning, and they have been in line for four hours, but the arrangements are commendable, allowing everyone to offer water to Baba.
