Devotees Flock to Delhis Temples for Chaitra Navratri Ashtami Celebrations

New Delhi, March 26: The Chaitra Navratri festival is being celebrated across the country with immense devotion. This nine-day festival is dedicated to the nine forms of Goddess Durga, with each day honoring a different aspect. Devotees flock to temples with their wishes, engaging in prayers filled with faith. Notably, the Jhande Walan and Kalka Ji temples in Delhi witnessed a significant surge in visitors.

At Jhande Walan temple, the number of devotees on Ashtami was so high that long queues formed as early as Thursday morning. Inside the temple complex, devotees sang hymns, lit lamps, and made their wishes known. Trustee Ravindra Goyal stated that the Navratri celebrations are nearing their end, and the Ashtami festival is being observed with grandeur. Kanya Poojan will also take place, and devotees have been arriving in droves since morning.

Priest Ambika Prasad Pant shared insights on the significance of Ashtami. He explained that this day is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth form of Mother Gauri. Mahagauri performed severe penance to win Lord Shiva as her husband, and her form is regarded as a symbol of peace, purity, and sanctity. On this day, devotees worship Goddess Mahagauri, hoping for the fulfillment of their desires.

Visitors expressed their feelings, stating, “We feel great coming here. Our minds find peace. All our wishes are fulfilled at this temple.”

Meanwhile, Kalka Ji temple also saw a large gathering of devotees on Ashtami. One visitor mentioned, “I regularly visit Kalka Ji temple, but this is my first visit during Navratri. The atmosphere here is unique during this festival, and devotees participate in prayers with utmost devotion. The chanting of hymns and devotional songs has made the environment even more sacred.”
