Demand for Enhanced Railway Facilities in Muzaffarpur: Meeting Highlights

Muzaffarpur, June 20: A delegation from the North Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with senior railway officials to discuss the enhancement of railway facilities for passengers in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Shyam Bhimsaria, the president of the chamber, shared that several demands were presented during the meeting, expressing hope that the railway authorities would take note and improve passenger convenience.

In discussions, Bhimsaria emphasized the importance of the meeting, which focused on better train operations, new facilities, and the challenges faced by passengers in North Bihar. He pointed out that many trains arriving from Patna, Rajendra Nagar, Danapur, or Chapra often remain idle for 12 to 14 hours without any activity.

The delegation requested that these trains be extended to Muzaffarpur. This extension would serve two main purposes: it would ensure proper utilization of trains and provide long-distance travel options for the residents of North Bihar. Bhimsaria noted that efforts are underway to develop Muzaffarpur into a world-class station during the Prime Minister’s tenure, making the operation of long-distance trains essential.

Currently, at least ten trains in the Patna-Chapra area are reported to be idle, and the delegation has urged for their extension to Muzaffarpur. Additionally, they requested that the Vande Bharat train coming from Gorakhpur to Patna be extended to Ayodhya, which would promote the Ramayana circuit. This direct connection from the birthplace of Sita (in the Muzaffarpur area) to Ayodhya holds significant importance from a Sanatan Dharma perspective and would enhance convenience for travelers heading to Ayodhya.

Furthermore, the delegation proposed extending the Ranchi-Patna Vande Bharat train to Muzaffarpur, as currently, there is only one train (Mourya Express) available from Muzaffarpur to Ranchi. They also highlighted the lack of pantry car facilities in the express train operating between Howrah and Kathgodam, which poses safety concerns for such long journeys.

The need for pick-and-drop services at Muzaffarpur station was also emphasized. Presently, passengers arriving by car face unnecessary hassles with receipts when trains are delayed. The delegation called for simplifying this process. They also urged an increase in the number of local trains between Muzaffarpur and Patna, as current services from various directions (Narkatiaganj, Raxaul, Saharsa, Baruni) often leave passengers without seats.

Moreover, they requested better facilities at Malgodam, Narayanpur Anant, and Karpuri Gram stations. Notably, Narayanpur Anant station holds special significance nationwide, necessitating its further development.
