Delhis Tree Plantation Drive: A Community Initiative Led by BJP President Harsh Malhotra

New Delhi, August 21: Harsh Malhotra, the President of the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Minister of Corporate Affairs, participated in the Delhi Mega Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 and the ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ initiative on Thursday. He led a large-scale tree planting event at the Central Ridge’s President’s Bodyguard (PBG) ground.

According to an official statement, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the Minister of Environment, Forests, and Wildlife for Delhi, was also present at the event.

This initiative is part of the Mega Plantation Drive 2026, which aims to plant 7 million trees across Delhi. The focus is on public participation, ensuring the protection of the planted trees, and securing their long-term survival.

Malhotra stated that this extensive plantation campaign at Central Ridge is a significant step towards transforming environmental conservation into a widespread community movement throughout the capital.

Expressing pride in the active role of the party organization, Malhotra noted that leaders from every district, along with MPs, MLAs, councilors, and grassroots workers, are united in spreading the message of ‘One Tree in the Name of Mother’ to every neighborhood.

He emphasized that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this initiative goes beyond the ambitious goal of planting 7 million trees.

The objective is to ensure the protection of every tree, taking full responsibility for their geographical identity and care, thereby securing Delhi’s sustainable future.

Malhotra also encouraged civil society organizations, rural labor groups, and professional bodies to continue their support for this green movement.

He stated that the Delhi government has made public participation the foundation of its tree planting campaign.

“Our commitment is not just to plant trees but to unite the people of Delhi in this mission. We want every tree to be planted with the same care and affection as we give to our mothers,” he added.
