New Delhi, May 12: Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu has urged the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to implement a Single Window Online Building Permit System (OBPS) aimed at enhancing the ‘Ease of Living’ in the city. An official disclosed this information on Tuesday.
The newly introduced facility by the DDA is designed to expedite, streamline, and make the building approval process more transparent and citizen-centric. This initiative addresses significant shortcomings in previous procedures, which often led to unnecessary bureaucratic delays, public grievances, and allegations of corruption.
While issuing directives for the initiation of the Single Window OBPS, the Lieutenant Governor had previously raised these concerns.
According to the statement, the new system will provide a seamless, integrated interface for citizens, homeowners, architects, and developers to navigate the process of obtaining building permits and related approvals.
This system allows for the online submission of building plans, documents, and multiple No Objection Certificates (NOCs) through a single window, thereby reducing procedural complexities and minimizing the need for repeated visits to DDA offices.
The statement further noted that applicants will be able to track the status of their applications in real-time, make online fee payments, and receive digitally signed approvals without the need to frequently visit DDA offices.
The system integrates AI-driven plan scrutiny, automated compliance checks, geo-tagged mobile inspections, and instant SMS and email notifications.
This initiative is expected to significantly reduce manual intervention, procedural delays, and operational errors in the building approval process, while also enhancing accountability, efficiency, and accuracy.
This move marks a significant milestone in modernizing Delhi’s urban planning and development framework through technology-driven governance reforms and streamlined public service delivery mechanisms.
