New Delhi, August 28: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has dismantled an alleged espionage network connected to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, leading to the arrest of a young couple. Authorities claim that the duo had been in contact with Pakistani intelligence officials since 2024 and were linked to this network through social media.
The Northern Range of the Special Cell received information about a Pakistan-supported espionage network operating in the Delhi-NCR region. As the investigation progressed, police uncovered a network attempting to acquire Indian SIM cards to send to Pakistan and gather sensitive information.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Sahil and his wife, Sameera. Sahil initially came into contact with a Pakistani agent, which led to their meeting with a purported Pakistani intelligence officer.
Investigations revealed that between 2024 and 2025, the couple allegedly sent eight Indian SIM cards to Pakistan via Dubai, receiving approximately 30,000 rupees in return.
According to police, these Indian numbers were used to operate WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan, allowing the couple to infiltrate Indian WhatsApp groups and gather sensitive information.
Additionally, Sahil was tasked with conducting reconnaissance in various military areas in India and providing information about army personnel facing court-martial proceedings.
After interrogating Sahil, police arrested Sameera due to her significant role in supplying SIM cards to Pakistani entities. Forensic analysis of their mobile phones revealed incriminating WhatsApp chats between Sahil, Sameera, and their Pakistani handlers.
Interrogations have provided insights into the operational methods of Pakistani intelligence operatives, revealing crucial details about the structure and functioning of this espionage module. This operation has successfully thwarted espionage activities orchestrated by Pakistani intelligence operatives.
Mohammad Sahil was born in 2001. After completing his BA from IGNOU, he began working with a lawyer, planning to pursue an LLB. He left his job in June 2025. Sahil met Sameera in 2022, and they later married. His father, Mohammad Ashfaq, moved to Delhi from their hometown, Badaun (UP), in 1982 and worked as a car mechanic in Sarai Kale Khan.
Sameera, born in 2005, completed her 12th grade in Delhi and pursued a BA through correspondence. Before her arrest, she worked at a call center in Noida. Her father, Nadeem, relocated to Delhi from their hometown, Bijnor (UP), in 1996 and settled in Shakurpur.
