Delhi Police Cracks Down on Vehicle Theft Gang, Arrests Two Suspects

New Delhi, June 15: The Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Delhi Police has achieved significant success by arresting two vehicle thieves in separate operations across different police jurisdictions. Approximately eight stolen vehicles were seized from the suspects.

The AATS team from the Eastern District successfully resolved four motor vehicle theft cases while apprehending one suspect near Nala Road in Rajbir Colony, Ghazipur. According to the Delhi Police, during a routine vehicle check near Ghazipur Chowk, they received a tip-off about an individual riding a stolen white Honda Activa scooter. Acting swiftly, a team was formed and a trap was laid at Nala Road in Rajbir Colony.

The team observed a suspicious person pushing a white Honda Activa scooter without a registration plate. The suspect was stopped and questioned. Investigations revealed that the scooter was indeed stolen, with a case registered at the Kalyan Puri police station. The accused was identified as Akash, a resident of Khichripur in Kalyan Puri, Delhi. During further questioning, he disclosed that he had hidden several other stolen vehicles.

Based on his information, the police team conducted a recovery operation in a park near Block-18 in Trilokpuri, close to the Dharmshila Red Light, where three more stolen two-wheelers were recovered. The vehicles were linked to theft cases registered at the Shakarpur, Laxmi Nagar, and Preet Vihar police stations. This arrest and recovery led to the resolution of four vehicle theft cases.

Police officials stated that efforts are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspect’s criminal activities, identify his accomplices, and locate potential buyers and receivers of the stolen vehicles.

In another operation, the AATS team from Shahdara district apprehended a notorious vehicle thief. The team recovered four stolen two-wheelers, successfully solving four vehicle theft cases registered in Shahdara, North-East, and Central districts.

In response to the rising incidents of two-wheeler thefts in Shahdara, a special team was formed to identify and apprehend criminals involved in vehicle theft and snatching. Acting on a tip-off, the team arrested Mohammad Jaan, alias Ajju, in the Seemapuri area of Delhi. Originally from Nand Nagri, Delhi, he is currently residing in Ikram Nagar, Loni, Ghaziabad, and is 41 years old.

At the time of his arrest, a stolen Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle was found in his possession. Investigations revealed that this motorcycle was stolen from a case registered at the Jyoti Nagar police station in the North-East district. The suspect was taken into custody, and during questioning, he confessed to his involvement in several vehicle theft cases and provided information about other hidden stolen vehicles.

Based on his disclosures, the police team recovered three more stolen two-wheelers. Investigations confirmed that all recovered vehicles were linked to theft cases registered at various police stations in Delhi. The suspect further revealed that he, along with his accomplice Jitu, used the stolen vehicles to commit snatching and theft incidents in different areas. Efforts to locate and apprehend the second suspect are ongoing.
