Indore, June 23: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale made a significant claim regarding Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT). He stated that Thackeray could potentially become part of the NDA in the future. Athawale shared this assertion during a conversation with reporters on Tuesday.
He noted that leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT) believe their future lies with Eknath Shinde, suggesting that they would be stronger within the NDA framework. This belief is driving them to align with Shinde.
Athawale emphasized that it cannot be dismissed that most MPs and MLAs, excluding Uddhav Thackeray, are siding with Eknath Shinde. Currently, very few MPs and MLAs remain with Thackeray. The issue arose when, in 2019, BJP and Shiv Sena contested elections together. However, when BJP failed to secure enough seats to form a government, Thackeray decided to ally with Congress and NCP. Had he not made that choice, he would likely still be with us, leading the party. Athawale mentioned that he had advised Thackeray multiple times to stay with them, and now many are joining their ranks. He predicted that a day would come when Thackeray would also have to align with them.
In addition, Athawale addressed the alleged scam involving donations to the Ram Temple. He stated that such corruption is unacceptable. The government stands against corruption, and action will be taken against those involved. Chief Minister Yogi has formed an SIT to investigate this matter, and all accused will face consequences. Athawale remarked that it is unfortunate for a scam to occur in the Ram Temple, as some individuals have a mindset that leads to corruption. He assured that action will be taken against such people.
Furthermore, he shared his views on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), asserting that it holds promise for the progress of the Muslim community. He noted that previously families had 13 or 14 children, but with the introduction of family planning laws, awareness campaigns like “We two, ours two” have emerged. Family planning is essential. He compared India’s population situation to China’s one-child policy, stating that India is now the most populous country. Athawale believes that the implementation of UCC would foster unity between Hindus and Muslims, ultimately benefiting the Muslim community.
