Jamshedpur FC Secures Thrilling 2-0 Victory Over FC Goa in ISL Clash

Mumbai, May 2: In a gripping encounter of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26, Jamshedpur FC triumphed over FC Goa with a score of 2-0 on Friday. The first half saw Jamshedpur dominating possession, yet they failed to convert their chances into goals. The breakthrough came in the 82nd minute when Mohammad Sanan found the net, followed by a late goal from Madi Talal during stoppage time, sealing the victory.

With this win at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, the ‘Red Miners’ climbed to the top of the points table with 21 points from 11 matches, while FC Goa slipped to third place with 19 points. Talal’s outstanding midfield performance and crucial late goal earned him the title of ‘Player of the Match.’

Jamshedpur FC’s head coach Owen Coyle opted for consistency, fielding the same team that had previously defeated Chennaiyin FC 4-1. In contrast, FC Goa’s head coach Manolo Marquez was forced to make a change, bringing in midfielder Mohammad Yasir to replace the injured Dejan Drazic.

FC Goa started strong, maintaining possession early in the match. In the first minute, forward Muhammad Nemil tested goalkeeper Albino Gomes with a long-range shot. The match faced a brief halt due to inclement weather, but once resumed, Jamshedpur gradually asserted their dominance.

As the first half progressed, the home team created better scoring opportunities. Around the 24th minute, winger Mohammad Sanan unleashed a powerful shot that was narrowly saved by goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. Midfielder Lalhriyatpuia Chawngthu and defender Nikhil Barla also attempted long-range shots but missed the target. Talal, who was impressive throughout the half, had a header that went wide and challenged Tiwari once more just before halftime.

The second half began with Jamshedpur continuing to control the game, with Talal and Nikola Stojanovic dominating midfield. FC Goa struggled to mount effective attacks. However, around the 60th minute, both Nemil and Yasir tested Gomes with long-range efforts.

In the 74th minute, Owen Coyle introduced midfielder Re Tachikawa, a move that proved pivotal. Shortly after, striker Messi Bouli attempted a header from a set-piece but missed.

Finally, in the 83rd minute, Jamshedpur broke the deadlock. From a corner kick taken by Talal, Tachikawa’s header bounced inside the six-yard box, and Sanan cleverly flicked the ball into the net between the legs of Goa defender Boris Singh.

Desperate to equalize, FC Goa pushed forward, but Jamshedpur maintained their composure at the back. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Bouli’s aerial ball caused chaos in Goa’s defense, as substitute Ronny Wilson failed to clear it. Talal seized the opportunity, firing a precise shot from outside the box to confirm the match’s outcome. Jamshedpur FC held on to their lead, securing a crucial victory and solidifying their position at the top of the table.
