New Delhi, May 18: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for energy conservation, the Delhi government has launched the ‘Monday Metro’ campaign. Under this initiative, officials across the city are commuting to their offices via the metro. Local residents have praised the government’s efforts.
Officials from West Delhi have embraced public transport as part of the ‘Monday Metro’ campaign. District Magistrate Hari Kalikat, along with ADM and SDM, traveled to their offices using the metro and e-rickshaws, encouraging citizens to utilize public transport and contribute to fuel savings.
He stated, “The Delhi government has initiated the ‘Monday Metro’ campaign. All officials have arrived at their offices via the metro today. I personally took the metro to reach my office. Almost the entire staff from West Delhi has used the metro. I urge everyone to adopt energy-saving measures for the betterment of our country. We should all heed Prime Minister Modi’s appeal.”
The District Magistrate emphasized that the ‘Monday Metro’ initiative is commendable and suggested that it should be implemented once a week. He conveyed a message that ‘Nation First’ should always be the priority.
Metro passengers have welcomed the Delhi government’s ‘Monday Metro’ initiative. They noted that increased use of public transport could reduce traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and pollution.
One metro passenger remarked, “The Delhi government has made a wise move. People should travel by metro. If they must use cars, they should consider carpooling. Traveling alone can lead to traffic jams. To avoid these issues, carpooling is advisable.”
Another passenger added, “This initiative will save money for commuters and help alleviate pollution. People should travel by public transport as much as possible.”
Yet another traveler stated, “Everyone should use the metro. The government’s ‘Monday Metro’ initiative is a great step.”
