New Delhi, April 28: In a significant move to strengthen pediatric health services, the Delhi government has decided to introduce the Fellowship of National Board (FNB) program in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital (GTBH). This initiative will allocate two seats annually for the program.
Every year, GTBH treats approximately 30,000 to 35,000 pediatric emergency patients, highlighting the urgent need for specialized training in pediatric emergency medicine. The introduction of this program is expected to enhance the quality of care and assist in emergency treatments for children under five years of age.
The FNB program operates under the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and is a two-year post-MD super-specialty course, equivalent to senior residency. Trainees will be adjusted into existing vacant senior resident positions, ensuring effective use of available resources without imposing additional financial burdens on the government.
This decision reflects the Delhi government’s commitment to strengthening tertiary health services and expanding advanced medical education. Under the adept leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the government is continuously striving to build a robust, sensitive, and future-ready healthcare system for all citizens of Delhi.
