
New Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta delivered her first Republic Day address at the Chhatrasal Stadium on Sunday, emphasising the government’s achievements in health, transport, education, development, pollution control, and ease of doing business. She also stressed the need to re-establish Delhi as a major economic hub.
Delhi’s Resilience and Future Vision
During the official Republic Day celebrations, CM Rekha Gupta stated that those who repeatedly exploited Delhi are now part of history. However, Delhi has always risen stronger and prouder. She expressed confidence that the city is once again reclaiming its lost dignity and shaping a promising future. The event featured the national flag hoisting, salute to valiant contingents, and cultural performances.
Commitment to Development and Sustainability
Extending warm Republic Day greetings to all residents of Delhi and surrounding areas, the Chief Minister urged citizens to renew their commitment to the city and the nation for progress. On social media platform X, she reaffirmed that respect for the Constitution, democratic values, and national interest form the foundation of India’s Republic. Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Vision 2047, the government is focused on building a developed Delhi.
She highlighted plans to make Delhi the electric vehicle capital by encouraging the adoption of green fuels and promoting the soon-to-be-launched electric vehicle policy. In health, the launch of 300 new Ayushman Arogya Kendras and Ayushman Bharat schemes has enhanced medical facilities and support for the underprivileged. To improve safety, the government is committed to installing 10,000 CCTV cameras across the city.
Investment in Infrastructure and Pollution Control
The government has allocated Rs 1,700 crore for various development projects and aims to boost the MSME sector to maximise benefits from the proposed India-European Union trade agreement. On pollution control, CM Gupta reiterated the administration’s ongoing efforts towards cleaning the Yamuna river, managing waste disposal effectively, and improving air quality through sustainable long-term solutions.
