Deepender Hooda Expresses Regret Over Controversial Remarks About Sajjan Kumar

Chandigarh, August 24: Congress MP Deepender Hooda has expressed regret over the controversy surrounding his recent remarks about Sajjan Kumar. He stated that his comments were misrepresented and clarified that he did not use the term referenced in the media. Hooda emphasized that he had no intention of hurting the sentiments of any community, particularly the Sikh community.

He mentioned that his family has had close ties with the Sikh community for four generations and that he could never imagine hurting the feelings of his Sikh brothers. If anyone felt offended, he expressed his apologies as a brother, asserting that he has never aimed to cause distress. Hooda has consistently advocated for justice for the Sikh community affected by the 1984 riots.

He acknowledged the Sikh community as a proud part of the nation, highlighting their immense sacrifices for the country. Whether in defending national borders or during the freedom struggle, the contributions of the Sikh community have always been inspiring.

Hooda described the Sikh community as patriotic, noting their numerous sacrifices for the nation both before and after independence. He referenced his family’s historical ties with the Sikh community, recalling that during the ‘Pagdi Sambhal Jatta’ movement in Punjab, his great-grandfather Chaudhary Maturam and martyr Bhagat Singh’s uncle Sardar Ajit Singh were sentenced to Kala Pani on the same day.

He stated that his family has stood with the Sikh community in every struggle, including recent farmer protests. When farmers from Punjab arrived in Delhi, he was among the first leaders to support them. Hooda emphasized that his relationship with the Sikh community is not just political but also emotional and historical, making it impossible for him to hurt their sentiments in any way.
