Daman, August 24: Governor Anandiben Patel of Uttar Pradesh urged the public to stay away from drugs and raise awareness among children and youth during the Monsoon Festival 2026 at Devka Beach in Daman. She emphasized that tourist destinations like Daman can easily tempt individuals with drug availability, making it essential for society to work together towards drug-free initiatives.
Patel stated, “We must first think about our families. Drugs hollow out our bodies from within, and we may not even realize when God calls us back. Everyone knows the situation families face afterward.”
She expressed concern over the increasing presence of various drugs in Daman, highlighting the responsibility of parents to keep their children informed and vigilant.
The Governor called for a collective commitment from the community to remain drug-free, educate children and youth about the harmful effects of drugs, and contribute to building a drug-free society.
Patel noted that events like the Monsoon Festival are not just opportunities to promote tourism but also crucial occasions for spreading social awareness.
Additionally, Governor Anandiben Patel departed for Surat via the Tejas Express from Ahmedabad Railway Station. During this event, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ahmedabad, Ved Prakash, welcomed her and provided detailed insights into the redevelopment projects at the station. He also updated her on ongoing efforts to equip the station with modern, world-class, and passenger-centric facilities.
The DRM shared information about various railway infrastructure projects, passenger amenities, safety measures, and modernization efforts by Western Railway in Gujarat, emphasizing that providing better, safer, and more accessible modern facilities is the railway’s top priority.
