De Kock’s Century Powers South Africa to 270, Sets India 271-Run Target

Visakhapatnam, December 6 – India and South Africa are playing the third and final ODI of the series at ACA-VDCA Stadium. Batting first, South Africa scored 270 runs in 47.5 overs, losing all wickets, thanks to Quinton de Kock’s 23rd ODI century.

Indian captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl first. South Africa’s innings began with Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton opening the batting. Rickelton was dismissed without scoring, caught by Rahul off Arshdeep Singh’s bowling. For the second wicket, captain Temba Bavuma and de Kock built a partnership of 113 runs. Bavuma scored 48 runs off 67 balls before getting out. After this, South Africa lost wickets at regular intervals. Aiden Markram, who scored a century as opener in the previous match, was sent to bat at number four but managed only 1 run before being dismissed.

Amid the falling wickets, Quinton de Kock completed his 23rd ODI century. De Kock played an innings of 106 runs off 89 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 8 fours. Matthew Breetzke scored 24 runs while Dewald Brevis contributed 29 runs. South Africa was bowled out for 270.

For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the most successful bowler, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs in 10 overs. Prasidh Krishna also claimed 4 wickets, giving away 66 runs in 9.5 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja picked up one wicket each.

This three-match series is level at 1-1. India won the Ranchi ODI by 17 runs, while South Africa won the second ODI in Raipur by 4 wickets.
