New Delhi, June 5: The second edition of the DDCA Women’s T20 League officially kicked off on Friday at Modern School, located on Barakhamba Road. On this occasion, Rohan Jetli, President of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), stated that the governing body aims to create year-round opportunities for women cricketers.
Jetli emphasized the rapid growth of the competition and reiterated DDCA’s commitment to strengthening the women’s cricket ecosystem in the city.
He remarked, “Last year, the Women’s T20 League received a positive response. We initiated this tournament to provide more competitive cricket opportunities for young girls. It is encouraging to see the number of teams increase from 42 in the first edition to 60 this year.”
“Our goal is to create year-round opportunities for women cricketers, strengthen the pathway from club cricket to higher levels, and ensure that talented players receive the platform they deserve. I wish all teams and players participating in the tournament the best of luck,” Jetli added.
DDCA Vice President Shikha Kumar welcomed the growing participation in the tournament, stating that it reflects the increasing popularity of women’s cricket in Delhi. “It is wonderful to see so many girls participating in this competition this year. Over 700 players will take part in this edition, showcasing the growth of women’s cricket in Delhi. This platform allows these players to display their talent and establish their identities,” she noted.

Sharma said, “Delhi’s clubs have always been the backbone of our cricket structure, and their support has been vital in making this tournament bigger and stronger. The increase in participation this year is indeed a positive development.”
