David Miller Expresses Frustration Over Exclusion from Playing XI

New Delhi, May 8: The IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is set to take place this Friday evening. A significant question looms: Will DC include explosive batsman David Miller in their playing XI? Miller has been absent from the lineup for the last two matches.

Only four foreign players can participate in the playing XI. From a team balance perspective, DC has opted not to include Miller among these four. Instead, they have given opportunities to Pathum Nissanka at the top order, Tristan Stubbs in the middle order, and bowlers Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi. This has resulted in Miller being sidelined. As one of the finest T20 batsmen, Miller finds it disappointing to be left out of the playing XI.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Miller stated, “It is definitely frustrating. Every player wants to play every match, but the structure of the IPL allows only four foreign players in the final eleven. Therefore, team combination becomes crucial.”

Miller added, “This is not my first IPL. I understand the tournament’s dynamics well. My job now is to provide positive energy to the team and be ready for my opportunity.”

The middle-order powerhouse remarked, “For us, every match is now a do-or-die situation. We need to win all four of our remaining matches to qualify. We haven’t played completely poor cricket, but we have made some small mistakes as a team that have cost us.”

Regarding the pitch at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, Miller noted, “The behavior of the pitch this season has been different. There have been high-scoring matches, while at times, batting has been challenging. The batting unit has put itself under pressure by losing wickets consistently. Several dropped catches at crucial moments have also weighed heavily on the team.”

Currently, Delhi Capitals are in a tough spot this season. They have suffered six losses in ten matches and sit in seventh place on the points table. To keep their playoff hopes alive, the team must win all of their remaining four matches.
