New Delhi, September 26 (Udaipur Kiran News). Ahead of the festive season, the central government is expected to give a Diwali gift to its employees in the form of a Dearness Allowance (DA) hike. Speculation suggests that DA for central government employees and pensioners may rise by 3%, bringing relief to millions of households.

DA to increase to 58%
Currently, employees receive a 55% DA. With a possible 3% increase, DA could reach 58%. The revised rates will be applicable from July 1, 2025, and the official announcement is expected before Dhanteras, by October 15. The government revises DA twice a year—effective from January 1 and July 1.
Impact on salaries
If implemented, the hike will bring a tangible boost to salaries. For example, an employee with a salary of ₹30,000 will see an increase of about ₹900 per month or ₹10,800 annually. The hike will act as much-needed financial relief at a time of rising inflation.
8th Pay Commission update
Alongside DA revisions, attention is also on the upcoming 8th Pay Commission. Sources suggest that the government may form a committee around Diwali to pave the way for its implementation. If this happens, the 8th Pay Commission could come into effect in early 2027, with salary hikes expected to be determined by the fitment factor, similar to the 7th Pay Commission.
