Lucknow, June 17: Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has dismissed claims of rebellion within his party as “baseless rumors.” His remarks came in response to assertions made by Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister O.P. Rajbhar, who suggested that the SP is heading towards a split similar to that of the Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena, predicting that party legislators and MPs would soon defect to the BJP.
Yadav expressed confidence in the resilience of his party, stating that courageous workers are needed to challenge the BJP’s “nefarious plans.” He remarked, “Those who are afraid will leave their party,” when asked about Rajbhar’s predictions of dissent within the SP.
The SP leader accused the BJP of employing secretive tactics, including inducements and threats, to create divisions among parties. He asserted that brave “SP fighters” would thwart these conspiracies.
Yadav emphasized that the SP is a strong party that has faced numerous challenges in the past. He also claimed that several BJP legislators are ready to switch sides and will reveal their intentions at the appropriate time.
Rajbhar has stated that all eyes will soon be on Uttar Pradesh, as significant turmoil is expected within the main opposition party, potentially leading to defections among its legislators. He alleged that SP National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav has submitted a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah, listing the legislators willing to join the ruling party.
