Mumbai, August 5: The passing of D.Y. Patil, former Governor of Tripura and Bihar, renowned educator, and Padma Shri awardee, has elicited profound sorrow from Congress leader Bhai Jagatap. He also responded to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s proposed ‘Genji’ dialogue, the results of the Bankipur Assembly by-election, and political comments regarding Sunetra Pawar.
Bhai Jagatap stated that D.Y. Patil’s death is a significant loss not just for Maharashtra but for the entire nation. His contributions to education were unparalleled, which positioned Maharashtra as a leading state in the educational sector. Patil’s impact extended beyond education; he made notable contributions in social and political arenas. His work was recognized nationwide, and he carved out a unique identity beyond politics. Jagatap expressed a personal and familial connection with the Patil family, noting that D.Y. Patil had familial ties with thousands. His passing is deeply saddening.
He extended condolences to the grieving family and prayed for the departed soul to find peace and receive the highest honor befitting his great works.
Regarding Mohan Bhagwat’s initiative for dialogue with ‘Genji,’ Bhai Jagatap remarked that the government and the RSS have long failed to understand the feelings and issues of the youth. He emphasized that if dialogue had started earlier, the current situation might have been different. He criticized the notion that engaging with youth solely through social media or Instagram would win their trust.
Bhai Jagatap pointed out that when young people were protesting at Jantar Mantar for an extended period, various allegations were made against them. He accused the authorities of attempting to defame the protesters instead of listening to their concerns. He stressed that India is one of the youngest nations in the world, and the power of its youth cannot be overlooked.
He noted that in recent days, BJP ministers and leaders have been visiting homes to engage with people, a practice that was previously uncommon. While he acknowledged that communicating with the public is not wrong, he pointed out that the arrogance displayed after coming to power has been dismantled by the youth of the nation.
On the results of the Bankipur Assembly by-election, Bhai Jagatap launched a sharp attack on the BJP. He stated that if the party could not retain its seat, the BJP president should take moral responsibility and resign. He declared that this result marks the beginning of the BJP’s countdown.
When asked about Sunetra Pawar being referred to as a ‘mute doll’ by Congress, Bhai Jagatap responded that it is natural to undergo a learning process when assuming new responsibilities in politics. Until now, Sunetra Pawar has supported Ajit Pawar as his wife, and she has taken on new roles in the current circumstances. She is a capable woman and will emerge stronger over time. He advised that such comments should not hurt her. He cited former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was once called a ‘mute doll’ but showcased women’s strength through her leadership.
