Crackdown on LPG Cylinder Black Market in Uttar Pradesh Continues

Lucknow, March 14: Under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Food and Logistics Department, along with district administration, is actively ensuring the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG for citizens. They are also taking stringent measures to curb the black market and illegal sales of LPG gas cylinders through continuous inspections and raids.

In the last two days alone, enforcement teams conducted inspections and raids at a total of 2,554 locations across the district. During these operations, five FIRs were registered against LPG distributors. Additionally, 35 FIRs were filed against other individuals involved in LPG black marketing. Eight people were arrested on-site, while actions are being taken against 37 others for prosecution.

The Chief Secretary has instructed all district magistrates to take necessary steps to maintain the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders. Continuous monitoring of the supply system is underway, along with inspections and raids, to prevent any shortages or disruptions.

There is a sufficient stock of LPG cylinders available at the 4,108 LPG distributors in the state, ensuring that consumers receive timely LPG refills through bookings. The Government of India has allowed an allocation of up to 20% of the total consumption of commercial cylinders, ensuring that gas supply to commercial establishments remains unaffected.

To monitor the supply system and resolve any issues promptly, a 24-hour active control room has been established at the Food Commissioner’s office, staffed with officials from the Food and Logistics Department.

Departmental officials and staff have also been deployed in the home control room. Furthermore, control rooms have been set up in all districts, which are operational around the clock. District supply office and local administration officials are actively visiting the field to ensure the availability of LPG for consumers.
