New Delhi, August 8: The Rouse Avenue Court has issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj in response to a defamation complaint filed by Delhi government minister and BJP leader Pravesh Verma. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for August 18.
Pravesh Verma has accused Saurabh Bhardwaj of criminal defamation, claiming that Bhardwaj made false and baseless allegations against him and his family on social media.
According to the petition, Bhardwaj falsely alleged that Verma misused his ministerial position to appoint an alleged associate as a trustee in a private school trust worth approximately five hundred crore rupees. Bhardwaj also claimed that Verma acted in favor of school employees accused in a POCSO case.
Verma stated that Bhardwaj’s posts were intended to deliberately damage his reputation in the eyes of the public. He asserted that these statements are entirely false and have harmed both his and his family’s political and social image.
Earlier, on July 4, Verma recorded his statement in Rouse Avenue Court, informing the court that Bhardwaj had made false accusations against him through social media posts in May 2026, causing significant harm to him and his family.
This defamation complaint pertains to posts made on social media related to an incident involving a private school. The court has sent a notice to Saurabh Bhardwaj, seeking his response, with the next hearing set for August 18.
Verma’s complaint emphasizes that the allegations made on social media are unfounded and solely intended to tarnish his image.
