New Delhi, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : A statement by Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy has ignited significant political controversy. His remarks, suggesting that “Lord Shiva is the deity of the poor and Lord Ram is the deity of the rich,” have drawn sharp criticism from BJP leaders, who accuse him of harboring an anti-Hindu mindset.
In Hyderabad, BJP leader Bura Narasayya Goud responded to Reddy’s comments by labeling him an “EMI Chief Minister,” implying that he has not earned his position through hard work but rather by luck. Goud remarked, “He is an ‘EMI CM’ and must resort to rehearsed statements to demonstrate his loyalty to Congress and Rahul Gandhi.”
Telangana BJP leader T.R. Srinivasa added that the Chief Minister lacks knowledge of Sanatan Dharma. He criticized Reddy for not conducting any research on the ancient Indian heritage, history, and culture, which stretches back over 7,000 years. Srinivasa declared that Reddy’s comments reveal his true nature and urged him to reconsider any attempts to reignite the “Aryan-Dravidian” narrative, emphasizing that Lord Ram belongs to everyone.
In Mumbai, BJP MLA Ram Kadam accused Congress of being anti-Hindu. He stated, “Our traditions, culture, and the faith of millions are deeply intertwined. Is there a difference between the rich and the poor in the presence of God? Everyone, both rich and poor, is welcome. Congress’s petty politics has now reached a level where they divide God among the rich and the poor. Does this country forget that during the Ayodhya temple construction, Congress leaders attempted to delay the Supreme Court‘s decision? Essentially, they are anti-Hindu and should keep their petty politics away from God.”
In Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, BJP leader Lanka Dinkar condemned Reddy’s remarks as well. He stated, “If we analyze the statements of Congress leaders from Rahul Gandhi to Revant Reddy and B.K. Hariprasad, the public can clearly see their ideological bankruptcy. As the Chief Minister of Telangana, Reddy should refrain from making divisive statements about Lord Ram and Lord Shiva. He must understand how people connect with the divine. If he is making such statements merely to please Rahul Gandhi, the public will not tolerate it.”
