New Delhi, May 17: BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala launched sharp attacks on Congress, the Muslim League, and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He addressed various issues, from the court’s decision in the Bhojshala case to the political landscape in Kerala and Mann’s governance style.
Regarding the Bhojshala case, Poonawala questioned Congress’s distress over the court ruling favoring Hindus. He accused the party of being so anti-Hindu that it opposes Hindus receiving their constitutional rights through the judiciary. He remarked, “Insulting Hindus has now become Congress’s identity.”
Poonawala also targeted Congress concerning Kerala’s politics. He asserted that it was already evident that VD Satheesan was the preferred chief ministerial candidate for the Muslim League, not Congress. He claimed that while Congress legislators had different preferences, the Delhi high command, under pressure from the Jamaat and the Muslim League, pushed Satheesan’s name forward. He suggested that the Muslim League now feels as if their government is in place, prompting them to create unrest on the streets.
Criticizing Congress further, Poonawala stated that a party subservient to the Muslim League should be renamed the “Islamic National Caliphate.”
In a jab at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Poonawala advised him to remember that he is a chief minister, not a “comedy master.” He quipped, “Wherever Bhagwant Mann works, he should at least maintain working conditions and stay alert.”
