Congress Under Rahul Gandhis Leadership Will Not Return to Power: Ramdas Athawale

Mumbai, February 17: Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has stated that Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar‘s remarks reflect a growing sentiment within the party that Rahul Gandhi will not lead Congress back to power.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Athawale supported Aiyar’s statement, asserting that the Congress party is unable to lead the public and that Rahul Gandhi cannot strengthen or elevate the party’s status. He emphasized that Aiyar’s comments encapsulate this viewpoint.

Athawale noted that Aiyar is a senior leader in Congress and that they have maintained a good relationship. However, he mentioned that Aiyar is currently quite upset. He pointed out that leaders from Congress are joining the BJP, reinforcing his belief that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Congress will not regain power. According to Athawale, the Congress party is characterized by making announcements and creating disturbances, lacking any substantial strength. He highlighted that the public has placed Prime Minister Modi in power three times, indicating their trust in him.

Regarding the recent formation of Tariq Rahman’s government in Bangladesh, Athawale remarked that it was established with a majority. He noted the historically good relations between India and Bangladesh and stressed the importance of Rahman fostering positive ties with India to address unemployment in Bangladesh. He mentioned that Prime Minister Modi congratulated Rahman on his electoral victory and expressed optimism for future relations between the two nations.

On the controversy surrounding Tipu Sultan, Athawale criticized the decision to place a statue of Tipu Sultan in the office of the Deputy Mayor of Malegaon. He advised the Muslim community to avoid contentious issues and urged Congress leaders to refrain from making statements that could spark disputes. He cautioned against comparing Tipu Sultan with Shivaji Maharaj, stating that such comparisons are inappropriate and have drawn widespread criticism of the Congress leader.

Athawale also commented on Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Mumbai, where he is accompanied by the President of France. He noted that they would discuss trade relations, which he believes will benefit both India and France.

In response to Congress leaders opposing the national song “Vande Mataram,” Athawale stated that Hari Prasad does not have the right to voice such opposition. He questioned whether the leaders are Congress members or aligned with Pakistan, asserting that if they are indeed Congress leaders, there should be no issue with “Vande Mataram,” which is the national song and should not be opposed.
