New Delhi, October 13 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are escalating in New Delhi following sexual assault allegations against Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam. A delegation of women MPs from the BJP has met with President Droupadi Murmu to discuss the matter. In response, Congress MP Manoj Kumar stated that accusations are expected, especially as they are opposing the BJP. He emphasized the party’s respect for women.
Speaking in Delhi, Kumar remarked, “The BJP’s female MPs are staging protests. Everyone saw the chaos they caused outside our office yesterday, including how they attacked our workers. That was a shameful incident.” He further noted that the courts will ultimately determine the guilt or innocence of those accused.
Kumar insisted that the allegations against Akoijam have not been proven. He questioned the appropriateness of attacking Congress workers based solely on unverified claims.
Additionally, Kumar commented on a controversial poster campaign in West Bengal, which encouraged purchasing biryani exclusively from Hindu-owned shops during Durga Puja. He asserted, “This country does not belong only to Hindus. It is home to Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Jains. This is a nation for all 1.4 billion people. Labeling shops in such a manner clearly indicates an underlying agenda.”
In Ranchi, JMM leader Manoj Pandey also criticized the BJP regarding the Bengal issue. He expressed skepticism about their commitment to development, stating, “What more can we expect from them? They won’t talk about progress or improving the living standards of Bengal’s people. They are followers of the British, working for them in this country.”
Pandey accused the BJP of using religious division to further their political goals, saying, “They incite tensions against specific communities to gain votes. They care little about genuine development; they only want to spread discord.”
