BJP Leaders Criticize SP, Claiming Defections Indicate Partys Decline
Tensions rise in Uttar Pradesh politics as BJP leaders mock SP over recent defections, signaling a shift in party loyalty.

Lucknow, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : In Uttar Pradesh, the political rivalry between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya targeted Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, raising concerns about illegal immigration. Meanwhile, BJP leaders Suresh Kumar Khanna and spokesperson Lalji Prasad Nirmal launched attacks on the SP following the defection of three of its legislators to the BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Maurya asserted that the unity of the opposition, including Gandhi and Yadav’s coalition, would not succeed in legitimizing immigrants in the voter list or sustaining them in India. He emphasized that the public has decided that illegal immigrants must leave the country.
Maurya accused certain opposition leaders of attempting to win elections with the support of immigrants, claiming that this era of tolerance is over. He noted that the time has come to remove these individuals from India. Regarding the three SP legislators who joined the BJP, Maurya stated that they had effectively been part of the BJP for some time.
Suresh Kumar Khanna, a minister in the state government, described the SP as a sinking ship, suggesting that no one would want to board a vessel that is going down. He pointed out that SP leaders have realized the difficulty of winning elections while remaining in a party with a tarnished image among the public.
BJP spokesperson Nirmal echoed Khanna’s sentiments, alleging that discontent within the SP, particularly regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s stance and the Ram Temple construction, led to several legislators switching allegiance to the BJP.
In a separate matter, Minister Danish Azad Ansari responded to inquiries about the Enforcement Directorate’s questioning of jailed leader Azam Khan in connection with cases related to the Jauhar University and Trust. He stated that an individual’s past influences their future, suggesting that Khan’s and the SP’s history would determine their future trajectory.
Ansari accused Khan of focusing on personal gain rather than serving the community during his time in power. He also criticized the SP for engaging in authoritarian politics and breaking public trust. However, he acknowledged that these allegations are political statements, and legal outcomes will depend on investigations and judicial processes.
On the occasion of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday, Ansari announced that science exhibitions would be organized in all madrasas across Uttar Pradesh. He hailed the former president as an ideal figure for the nation and youth, emphasizing that Kalam’s life inspires hard work, dedication, passion, and talent. The exhibitions aim to foster scientific thinking, innovation, and a love for learning among students.
