HarSimrat Kaur Demands Resignation of Punjab CM Over Drug Trafficking in Ludhiana Jail

HarSimrat Kaur criticizes Punjab government for drug trafficking issues in Ludhiana jail and calls for CM Bhagwant Manns resignation.

Chandigarh, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Union Minister HarSimrat Kaur Badal has launched a scathing attack on the Punjab government following reports of drug trafficking in Ludhiana jail. Allegations have surfaced regarding the use of Google Pay for drug purchases and a purported collusion among jail staff, guards, and inmates.

In a post on social media platform X, Kaur urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to resign immediately. She claimed that the law and order situation in Punjab is deteriorating, and the state government has failed to address the issue effectively.

Kaur highlighted the alarming trend of social activists advocating against drug abuse being killed in broad daylight. She accused the government of silencing those who dare to speak out against it through intimidation and harassment.

The former minister asserted that drug traffickers are being protected by a system that is itself implicated in promoting drug trade. She expressed concern that jails are transforming into strongholds for drug trafficking, facilitated by the collaboration of jail personnel, security guards, and inmates.

Kaur further stated that no one in Punjab feels safe anymore. She noted that the mafia’s audacity has escalated to the point where even assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) are being murdered, while criminals roam freely.

She directed her criticism towards CM Bhagwant Mann, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, and other party leaders, questioning their silence on this critical issue. Kaur remarked that while numerous press conferences are held to divert public attention, no substantial action is being taken to tackle the root causes of the drug problem.

She lamented that mothers and daughters in Punjab are losing their sons daily to addiction, yet the state government remains unaccountable. Kaur challenged whether the Aam Aadmi Party government has accepted responsibility for this crisis.

Concluding her post, she stated that it is a profound shame for any government to see the drug trade and related criminal activities surge under its administration.
