Saharanpur, May 17: Congress MP Imran Masood has targeted the central government regarding the NEET exam paper leak case. He called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on ethical grounds during a discussion on Sunday.
Masood stated, “This is a matter of ethics. When ethics are compromised, what can be done?”
He also criticized the government for rising petrol and diesel prices, noting that the Prime Minister has finally recognized the country’s economic and energy crisis. “Rahul Gandhi mentioned last year in Parliament that the economy was in a downturn, and perhaps the Prime Minister has now understood this. The economy is certainly not in good shape. An all-party meeting should be convened to find solutions to this crisis,” he added.
Masood expressed concern over the potential impact of the Iran-U.S. conflict, warning that this tension could severely affect India’s economy and energy security. He urged the central government to formulate an immediate strategy.
On the other hand, Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh, during a press conference, highlighted the dominance of certain families in medical colleges, alleging that millions are being illegally earned through paper leaks. He referenced a report from the parliamentary standing committee and called for ensuring transparency in the examination process.
The Congress party has been consistently attacking the government over the NEET controversy. Previously, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, stated, “There is no accountability in the Modi government – just a fixed formula of deception. The NEET paper was leaked, yet not a single minister has resigned. Dharmendra Pradhan has deceived the 22 lakh students of NEET and has also insulted Parliament. The Education Minister should be removed immediately.”
The opposition is intensifying its attacks on the government over the NEET issue. Student organizations, including the NSUI, are continuously protesting. The opposition accuses the government of a complete failure of the examination system, while the central government has instructed investigative agencies to expedite the inquiry into the matter.
