Amaravati, July 21: Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday to discuss the establishment of a food cluster in the state.
The UAE delegation held discussions with the Chief Minister and senior officials at the state secretariat. The state government announced plans to create a value chain for exporting various horticultural products, including mangoes, bananas, and cocoa, to international markets.
Earlier this year, an agreement to establish a food cluster was reached during the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos. According to an official statement, the UAE expressed its readiness to set up the food cluster in Andhra Pradesh during Naidu’s visit to Davos.
The UAE has decided to establish a value chain in the food processing sector within Andhra Pradesh. A partnership has been formed between the Andhra Pradesh government and the UAE in this regard.
Industry Minister T.G. Bharat and senior officials from the Food Processing, Industry, and Food & Development departments participated in the meeting. During the World Economic Forum in January, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri had previously met with N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Following that meeting, it was announced that the UAE’s Dubai Food Cluster would collaborate with Andhra Pradesh’s food processing sector. The UAE minister also assured support for the establishment of nearly 40 institutions in the state.
He discussed ongoing and potential collaborations in food, multimodal logistics, energy, ports, and retail sectors to strengthen the economic partnership between Andhra Pradesh and the UAE. The proposal for establishing a multimodal logistics park in Andhra Pradesh by the UAE’s Sharaf Group was also discussed.
Chandrababu Naidu expressed hope that the strategic partnership with the UAE would lead to increased employment opportunities and exports in Andhra Pradesh.
