New Delhi, July 21: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday to enhance national security cooperation and ensure energy stability amid changing dynamics in the Middle East.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh highlighted key points of the visit on social media, sharing images that showed a warm welcome for Doval by Dr. Saud Al-Sati, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Suhail Khan, the Saudi Ambassador to India.
During his visit, Doval held separate meetings with Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and National Security Advisor Dr. Musaed Al-Aiban.
The discussions reviewed the progress in bilateral relations between India and Saudi Arabia. Both sides also deliberated on the current regional security situation and various issues of mutual interest.
According to the embassy, this visit is seen as significant for strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the areas of security, energy, and regional cooperation.
This trip comes amid rising concerns over global supply chains due to the US-Iran conflict. The world is once again worried about an energy crisis, exacerbated by US attacks and a fragile ceasefire.
As one of the largest crude oil importers globally, India heavily relies on supplies from Saudi Arabia. The meetings also addressed security cooperation, with both parties reviewing coordination and intelligence sharing to combat terrorism.
According to information on the official website of the Indian Embassy, Saudi Arabia is India’s third-largest supplier of crude oil, fulfilling approximately 14% of India’s total oil needs. Amid increasing tensions in West Asia, both countries are working together to secure maritime corridors and energy supplies.
