Congress Leader Supreeya Shrinath Criticizes BJP and RSS Over National Flag Controversy
Supreeya Shrinath attacks BJP and RSS for their historic opposition to the national flag during a rally in support of the Lahara Do Tiranga campaign.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Supreeya Shrinath has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in support of the “Lahara Do Tiranga” rally organized by the Cockroach People’s Party. She asserted that only those against the nation have issues with the national flag, pointing out that the RSS did not hoist the tricolor for 53 years.
During her remarks on the rally, Shrinath stated, “It is no surprise that those who did not raise the flag at the RSS headquarters for over half a century would oppose it now. The flag has been kept in a Nagpur police station all this time.”
She criticized the BJP for labeling the flag as “unlucky” and questioned how they could allow others to display it. “Those who oppose the peaceful display of the national flag reveal their true anti-national sentiments,” she added.
Shifting focus to the remarks made by JDU MLA Anant Singh regarding his alleged involvement in nine murders, Shrinath called for the Supreme Court to take notice of such serious allegations. “Their power relies on criminals who boast about their actions as if they are honorable,” she remarked.
She further emphasized the absurdity of the BJP’s stance, questioning whether they would accept someone who openly confessed to multiple rapes into their ranks. “This is the true character of the BJP; their governance is propped up by such individuals,” Shrinath asserted.
On the rising drug issue in Punjab, she pointed out that when in power, questions are directed at the ruling party. “With resources and agencies under your control, including the Punjab police, how can you allow drug abuse to escalate?” she questioned, stressing the accountability of the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Addressing the BJP’s apprehension towards the name “Gandhi,” Congress MP J.B. Mathur claimed that the party fears the very mention of it. “They want to dictate what surnames people should have. Every citizen has the right to their surname. Their anxiety about Rahul Gandhi’s growing popularity, especially among youth and students, is evident,” he said.
CJP spokesperson Mehr Pasricha, addressing the “Lahara Do Tiranga” protest, stated that it is their right to decide where to display the national flag. “No one can dictate to us where we can wave our flag. The flag has long been a symbol of patriotism, and there should be no barriers in our way,” she asserted.
Pasricha also highlighted the unjust detention of two of their members for merely waving the flag at Jantar Mantar, asserting that they will not back down. “Many CJP volunteers and various student organizations have gathered here because they believe no one can tell us what we can or cannot do,” she affirmed.
Commenting on the detention of CJP founder Abhijit Dipke, Pasricha remarked that it reflects the government’s fear of dissent. “They are terrified of Abhijit, the CJP, and any voices of opposition. They fear that if Abhijit connects with the people during the march, they will be eager to listen to him. The government is afraid of the truth, as Abhijit shares it with the public.”
