Every Citizens Right to Hoist the National Flag, Says Hannan Mollah

Hannan Mollah asserts that hoisting the national flag is a constitutional right, criticizing the government for suppressing this expression.

New Delhi, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Hannan Mollah, a member of the Polit Bureau and General Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), criticized the central government regarding the proposed protests by the Cockroach People’s Party. He emphasized that hoisting the national flag is a constitutional right and a patriotic expression, yet the government appears fearful of it. Mollah accused the administration of transforming Delhi into a war zone, deploying military forces against the youth instead of defending the nation’s borders.

Addressing the CJP protest, Mollah stated, “They have announced the time, place, and purpose of the protest. Hoisting the national flag is a constitutional right and a patriotic act. However, the government is afraid of this. They shout about patriotism and slogans like ‘Vande Mataram’ daily, but when it comes to the democratic rights of people to hoist their flags, how genuine are these claims? They didn’t hoist the flag until the 1950s.”

Mollah pointed out that military forces are meant to protect the country’s borders, not to suppress the younger generation. He believes that people will come out to participate in the protest, and it will depend on them how they reach the venue. The Student Federation of India is expected to join, and Mollah anticipates a significant turnout. “A change of power is necessary, especially when it is directed by criminals. How can you tolerate that?” he questioned.

He further stated that if the current regime has operated against the constitution, democratic rights, secularism, and the unity of the people for 13 years, they can demonstrate this hour by hour. Mollah reminded everyone that farmers successfully pressured the government to repeal three controversial laws. The government had promised to engage with them and address other issues.

Responding to another query, he announced that their conference will take place from November 15 to 18 in Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh. This will be the 36th conference of the AIKS, which is the oldest and largest farmers’ organization in the country. Celebrating its 90th anniversary, the organization was first established in 1936. Mollah noted that they fought for freedom and then for farmers’ rights, marking this as their 36th conference after successfully holding 35 previous ones.

During the conference, they will discuss farmers’ issues, government deceit, and strategies to intensify their struggles in the coming days. Mollah stressed the importance of strengthening their organization, as no struggle can succeed without it. The AIKS operates in 525 districts across India, with units and committees in place. In the future, they aim to expand their reach into areas where they have yet to establish a presence. The conference will focus on their policies, political strategies, and organizational aspects.
